About Me
About Me
Hi there, I'm Alan Yeung 👋
I'm originally from Hong Kong and moved to the United States in 2019. I'm so glad you've found your way to my little corner of the web! If you'd like to chat about tech, travel, or diving, feel free to reach out via LinkedIn.
Career & Work
I'm currently a Software Engineer at AWS, Marketing - Technology AI and Analytics, focusing on the Identity Platform. In short, my work is about making authentication and login experiences across AWS systems simpler, more consistent, and smoother. I build this unified identity experience using GraphQL, Serverless architectures, and OAuth.
During my time at AWS, I've learned how to design high-performance, fault-tolerant systems with automatic failover, capable of serving millions of users simultaneously. I've also worked on security-related tasks like SOC2 compliance and penetration testing, which deepened my understanding of system reliability and security.
I graduated from the University of Washington in 2021. After graduation, I started as a Cloud Engineer focusing on security and identity systems, then transitioned into a Software Engineer role—still in the same area, but now with a greater focus on development and optimization of the identity platform. This journey helped me gain practical experience in both cloud architecture and software development.
Technical Skills & Tools
Throughout my work and projects, I've become familiar with a wide range of technologies and tools, including:
- Cloud & Automation: AWS, Jenkins, Docker
- Programming Languages: Golang, Java, Typescript, Tailwind, React, Next.js
- Marketing & Content Platforms: Marketo, Adobe Experience Manager, Salesforce
- System Security & Identity Knowledge: OAuth, SAML, Authentication Strategies, Authorization
These tools and technologies enable me to handle system integrations, automate workflows, and manage large-scale identity systems efficiently.
Traveling, Photography & Exploring the World
Outside of work, my biggest passion is traveling. I love exploring both cities and countrysides on foot—feeling the local culture, stories, and atmosphere of every place I visit. To me, travel isn't just relaxation—it's a way of learning and personal growth. Every trip offers new perspectives and inspiration that enrich my outlook on life.
I also love photography. I enjoy capturing fleeting moments—sunsets over coastlines, everyday street scenes, or people and stories I encounter along the way. I organize and share these photos so others can experience the beauty of the world through my eyes. For me, photography isn't just documentation—it's a way of communicating with the world.
So far, I've explored Europe, the Americas, and Asia, and my goal is to visit every continent and experience the unique cultures of each. You can check out my photos at photos.alanyeung.co. I mainly shoot with a Sony α6700—still learning to master it, but already loving every moment of capturing life through it.
Trying New Things & Continuous Learning
I've always enjoyed trying new things, believing that curiosity and a spirit of adventure keep life exciting. Recently, I've gotten into swimming and learned scuba diving—each dive feels like entering another fascinating world.
One of my dreams is to meet more friends from around the world and eventually live in different countries to experience various lifestyles and cultures firsthand.
